All sorts of flora and fauna are taking their first tentative steps from the security of their winter hibernation.
Bursts of vivid yellow are now lining the Cornish hedgerows and verges with the first blooms of daffodils; the white dots of the snowdrops and the promise of rainbow crocuses are all signs that spring is here. Every hedgerow, field or garden has something different to offer.

There are many opportunities to spot some rare and very special animals, birds and sea life on the coast, in the water and around the beautiful moorland areas. To help identify some of the finds you might make, why not print off the pocket guides on the BBC Breathing Places or one of the various wildlife bingo games to make a day out more fun?
